An unexpected incident unfolded in Kerala, southern India, when part of a helipad collapsed moments after Indian President Droupadi Murmu’s helicopter landed at Pramadam Stadium.
According to local reports, the tarmac sank under the aircraft’s weight, leaving the helicopter partially stuck on the uneven surface. In a scene that drew both shock and disbelief, police officers and firefighters rushed in to manually push the presidential chopper to safety.
The incident occurred shortly after President Murmu arrived for an official visit. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the president was safely escorted from the area. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the structural failure of the temporary helipad, which had been constructed specifically for the visit.
Videos and photos from the scene quickly circulated online, showing responders surrounding the grounded helicopter as they worked to free it. Officials assured the public that the aircraft did not sustain major damage and that safety protocols were immediately followed.
The bizarre episode has since sparked debate over security and infrastructure preparedness during high-level visits, with calls for stricter inspection standards for makeshift landing zones.
