A new Marist poll shows New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani holding a commanding lead over rivals Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa, signaling a major shift in the city’s political landscape ahead of Election Day.

The survey, conducted from October 24 to 28 among 792 likely voters, found Mamdani with 48% support, compared to 32% for Cuomo and 16% for Sliwa. Only 3% of respondents said they remain undecided. The results suggest that Mamdani, a progressive state assemblyman from Queens, has consolidated support among younger and left-leaning voters across the five boroughs.

Former Governor Andrew Cuomo’s numbers indicate a challenging path forward as he struggles to regain public trust and distinguish himself from both his past controversies and the progressive momentum behind Mamdani. Meanwhile, Republican radio host and Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa continues to poll in the mid-teens, drawing consistent backing from conservative and law-and-order voters.

Political analysts note that the data reflects a broader trend in urban politics—where progressive movements are gaining ground, even as issues of crime, affordability, and governance dominate voter concerns. Still, observers caution that with several weeks remaining before the election, turnout and last-minute campaigning could still reshape the race’s dynamics.

For now, however, Mamdani stands as the clear frontrunner in what has become one of the most closely watched mayoral contests in the nation.
