The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recently completed a landmark multi-day drill in Judea and Samaria, marking the first exercise to involve both the Judea & Samaria Division and the newly formed 96th “Gilad” Division, which is responsible for security along the Jordanian border.
Over three days, troops conducted simulations of 40 extreme scenarios, including terrorist infiltrations, urban combat, and mass-casualty incidents. The drill incorporated support from 180 aircraft, as well as coordination with police and emergency services, highlighting the IDF’s commitment to joint operational readiness and rapid mobilization.
Officials emphasized that the exercise integrated lessons learned from the October 7 attacks, focusing on rapid response protocols, early precision airstrikes, and full-force mobilization. Commanders noted that the drill tested both operational planning and on-the-ground execution under high-pressure conditions, ensuring troops are prepared for a variety of security challenges.
The exercise underscores Israel’s ongoing efforts to enhance defensive readiness, strengthen coordination among military divisions, and refine responses to asymmetric threats. By involving multiple units and scenarios, the IDF aims to maintain a strategic edge and protect civilians while adapting to evolving security challenges in the region.
