The Fire Department of the City of New York responded at approximately 8:46 a.m. to a reported fire at an artist-in-residence loft building located at 10–15 48th Avenue in Queens. Crews arrived in under four minutes and encountered heavy fire conditions on the second floor, with flames extending from both the front and side of the structure.

Due to significant access challenges inside the building, firefighters initially deployed exterior streams to begin knocking down the blaze while additional units worked to contain the spread. The incident quickly escalated to a third-alarm assignment, ultimately bringing 63 units and 192 FDNY and EMS personnel to the scene as operations intensified.

The fire was brought under control at approximately 10:54 a.m., with three firefighters sustaining minor injuries during the response. No civilian injuries were reported, and officials confirmed that the cause of the fire remains under active investigation as crews continue assessing damage and safety conditions.
