EDINBURGH, Scotland — President Donald Trump has significantly shortened the ultimatum he previously gave to Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the ongoing war in Ukraine, reducing the original 50-day deadline to just 10 or 12 days.

During a brief statement while visiting Edinburgh as part of his U.K. tour, Trump told reporters, "We're not going to wait forever. I gave them 50 days — that was generous. Now we’re looking at 10, maybe 12 days. That’s it."

While Trump did not specify what actions the U.S. would take if the conflict is not resolved within the tighter timeframe, the move signals a sharp escalation in pressure on the Kremlin.

Trump has repeatedly criticized Moscow for prolonging what he calls an "unnecessary and destructive war" in Eastern Europe and has vowed that the United States will not sit idly by while peace efforts are stalled.

The decision also reflects growing impatience in Washington, where bipartisan support for a swift resolution to the conflict has been mounting amid rising global tensions and economic instability linked to the war.

So far, the Kremlin has not issued a public response to the newly adjusted timeline, but Russian officials have previously warned that ultimatums from Washington are "counterproductive."

This latest development comes as Trump continues his diplomatic outreach in Europe, including meetings with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and NATO leaders, in a bid to restore U.S. leadership on the global stage.
