Hunter Biden: Father's Cancer Has Spread Into His Bones and Beyond
Hunter Biden delivered a sobering update on his father's health during a wide-ranging interview with BBC Newsnight on Friday, revealing that former President Joe Biden's prostate cancer has continued to advance. "The cancer has spread, is metastasized into his bones and further. It's very painful, and it's very debilitating in many respects, but he's still out there," Hunter Biden said, describing the toll the disease has taken on his 83-year-old father. He added that watching his father endure the illness has been "really sad to watch," and said the only thing he wishes is that his father "would complain more" about how difficult the condition truly is.
Joe Biden's office first disclosed the diagnosis in May 2025, just months after he left the White House, revealing an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had already spread to the bone at the time it was discovered. The diagnosis carried a Gleason score of 9, a marker doctors use to indicate an especially aggressive cancer, and by September 2025 the former president had completed a course of radiation and hormone therapy. Former first lady Jill Biden addressed the diagnosis publicly in June, telling NBC's "Today" show that the disease's spread to the bone meant her husband would likely "live with cancer" for the rest of his life, even as she said he remained active and continued keeping busy.
