President Donald Trump announced that U.S. forces carried out a strike against a “drug-carrying boat” departing from Venezuela, releasing video footage of the operation on Truth Social.
“We just, over the last few minutes, literally shot out a boat — a drug-carrying boat, a lot of drugs in that boat,” Trump told reporters from the Oval Office.
The video shows U.S. military assets targeting the vessel, which officials said was loaded with narcotics. According to Trump, 11 individuals identified as terrorists were killed in the operation.
The strike comes only days after the U.S. deployed warships to the Venezuelan coast as part of a wider crackdown on drug trafficking and suspected militant activity in the region.
The Pentagon has not yet released further details about the operation, but defense officials said it represents part of a broader mission to cut off transnational crime networks and enhance maritime security.
