LAS VEGAS — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has unveiled a fleet of 10 modified Tesla Cybertrucks, marking the world’s first all-electric police patrol vehicles.
Funded through a private donation, the Cybertruck units are slated for active deployment within weeks. According to LVMPD officials, the fleet is expected to save the department over $100,000 annually in fuel and maintenance costs, capitalizing on the efficiency of electric vehicles in Las Vegas’ warm, dry climate.
The vehicles’ stainless-steel exoskeleton provides enhanced ballistic resistance, making them a practical and durable upgrade for law enforcement.
Police leadership said the Cybertruck rollout reflects the department’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and public safety modernization — positioning Las Vegas at the forefront of electric policing technology.
