Dramatic body-cam footage released by Israeli police shows the chaotic final moments of a dangerous highway chase that ended with a stolen car slamming into a bus at the Sakharov Interchange on Highway 1. According to police, officers from the Judea district received a report from the Harel station about a suspected stolen vehicle heading toward the highway, and units quickly set up roadblocks to intercept it. The driver, a 17-year-old from Hebron allegedly in Israel illegally, kept fleeing even after plowing into the bus, forcing officers to physically subdue him before he could get away again. He was ultimately arrested with help from Harel Station officers and Jerusalem's Yasam special patrol unit.
The footage captures the aftermath in full, the wrecked vehicle sitting crumpled on the roadside while multiple officers wrestle the driver to the ground and restrain him. A search of the teen reportedly turned up pepper spray, and he was taken to the Beit Shemesh police station for questioning. Police have not released any information on whether anyone aboard the bus or the driver himself was injured in the collision. The incident adds to a string of similar stolen-vehicle chases police have dealt with on Israeli highways in recent months, underscoring how quickly a routine traffic stop attempt can spiral into a high-speed, high-risk pursuit.
