The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) dropped leaflets over Gaza City urging residents in designated blocks to evacuate south toward Mawasi, Khan Yunis, as part of an ongoing military operation.

The leaflets are the latest in a series of evacuation warnings the IDF has issued, aimed at reducing civilian casualties during intensified operations against Hamas. Israeli officials say such warnings are intended to give civilians safe passage before strikes are carried out.

However, the calls to evacuate come against the backdrop of a deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Since 2023, international aid groups have documented widespread shortages of food, water, medical supplies, and electricity, alongside the collapse of critical infrastructure. For many families, relocation has become increasingly difficult, with limited safe zones and scarce resources.

The IDF has not provided further details on how long residents will be expected to remain in the south, while humanitarian organizations continue to urge both sides to ensure the protection of civilians.
