The Syrian Army has begun deploying armored vehicles manufactured in Turkey, signaling an expansion of military capabilities amid ongoing regional ceasefires. Recent footage shows a convoy of tan MRAP-style vehicles, likely Turkish-made Ejder Yalçın models, advancing along a desert road in eastern Syria with soldiers in camouflage providing security. Observers note that this deployment reflects the growing operational readiness of the new Syrian government under Ahmed al-Sharaa.

Following the ouster of Bashar al-Assad in late 2024, Turkey signed a defense pact in August 2025 to supply weapons, logistics, and armored vehicles to Syria’s transitional government. The Ejder TTZA 6x6 vehicles were first paraded in Damascus in December 2025, representing a visible commitment to modernizing Syrian forces and strengthening regional deterrence capabilities. Analysts highlight that the vehicles’ mobility and protection against mines and ambushes provide the Syrian Army with enhanced tactical options in desert and urban operations.

The deployment demonstrates both Ankara’s role as a key defense partner and the Syrian government’s intent to consolidate control over contested areas. While regional ceasefires remain in place, the introduction of Turkish-supplied armored platforms signals that Syria is actively preparing for rapid response operations and reinforcing its strategic position across eastern and northern territories.
