HaGaon HaRav Dov Landau shared guidance on the importance of Torah learning during a gathering of approximately 20 Chareidi businessmen and professionals at his home in Bnei Brak on Wednesday evening.
The gathering, held ahead of the upcoming Knesset elections, brought together working members of the Chareidi community for a discussion with the Rosh Yeshiva about Torah learning, family life, and their place within the broader Torah community.
During the meeting, participants asked how fathers who spend much of their day earning a livelihood can merit raising children who become accomplished talmidei chachamim.
The question was raised in connection with the Rosh Yeshiva's own father, who operated a business in Rechovot while maintaining a commitment to Torah learning.
HaRav Landau recalled visiting his father at his place of business and finding him learning from a sefer.
When asked how businessmen today could follow that example despite the demands of their work, the Rosh Yeshiva emphasized that every opportunity for Torah learning carries importance, even when a person cannot devote his entire day to learning.
According to the Hebrew report, HaRav Landau told the participants that they should learn as much as their circumstances allow.
The gathering also addressed the relationship between working Chareidim and the broader Torah community. In remarks connected to the upcoming elections, HaRav Landau discussed their communal representation and the importance of maintaining their connection to the Torah world.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the participants to hear directly from the Rosh Yeshiva on the responsibilities of working fathers and the enduring importance of Torah learning in the home.
