CROWN HEIGHTS — Two signs spotted on benches in Crown Heights are drawing attention as the neighborhood fills with visitors for Tishrei — each delivering a very different message.

One sign, written in Hebrew and English, asks girls not to sit on the bench. A second, decorated with hearts, offers a warm greeting to visitors arriving for Tishrei, including an explicit welcome to girls.

The contrasting signs surfaced as Crown Heights experiences its annual Tishrei influx, with large numbers of guests arriving from around the world and the area surrounding 770 Eastern Parkway growing increasingly busy.

It was not immediately clear who placed either sign or whether the two were connected in any way.
