The Al-Amana fuel network, long identified as a financial and logistical pillar for Hezbollah, has been under U.S. sanctions since 2020. Reports from the U.S. The Treasury has previously estimated that the network generates over $100 million annually, funds believed to support militant activities and regional operations. By targeting these assets, Israel is effectively striking at one of Hezbollah’s most reliable revenue streams. Analysts suggest this approach weakens both the group’s financial stability and its ability to sustain prolonged engagements.

From a military standpoint, the strikes demonstrate a focus on economic warfare integrated with kinetic operations. Rather than solely targeting weapons stockpiles or personnel, the Israel Air Force is expanding its scope to include infrastructure that enables Hezbollah’s supply chain. This method is designed to degrade long-term capabilities, limiting the group’s ability to regroup and rearm. It also sends a signal that financial networks tied to militant activity are no longer insulated from direct military action.

The timing of the strikes comes amid heightened tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, where sporadic clashes have intensified since early March 2026. Southern Lebanon, particularly areas with known Hezbollah presence, has become a focal point for Israeli operations aimed at preempting threats. The targeting of fuel infrastructure underscores a broader strategic shift toward dismantling support systems that sustain militant operations over time.
