A hafgana took place at the entrance to Elad on Wednesday following the arrest and sentencing of a bochur from Yeshivas Torah B'Tiferes, who was ordered to serve 10 days in military prison for failing to report for IDF service.
The bochur was initially stopped by police in Kfar Saba in connection with a traffic-related violation. He was subsequently summoned to a police station, where authorities reportedly discovered that he was classified as having failed to report for military service.
Following the discovery, the bochur was transferred into the custody of the Military Police and later sentenced to 10 days in military detention.
News of the arrest prompted demonstrations by members of the Chareidi community, who gathered outside the Kfar Saba police station to protest the detention.
Additional protesters assembled near the Ra'anana Junction, where demonstrators blocked roads and confronted police officers during the unrest.
As word of the sentence spread, another hafgana began at the entrance to Elad, home to numerous yeshivos and Chareidi families.
The demonstrations reflected growing concern among members of the Chareidi community over the detention of yeshiva bochurim in connection with military service requirements.
The Elad gathering marked a further development in the protests that began following the bochur's initial detention in Kfar Saba.
