Newly released overnight video is giving the clearest look yet at what the Florida Panhandle endured as Hurricane Isaias roared ashore Friday night. The footage, captured across Okaloosa County from Destin to Fort Walton Beach, shows the storm at its most ferocious, howling winds, sheets of heavy rain, visibility dropping to near zero, and debris flying through the air as structures took a beating. Isaias made landfall near Destin as a Category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of 105 mph, battering the coastline before rapidly weakening once it moved inland. The storm's punch was immediate and widespread, knocking out power to more than 800,000 customers across Florida, Alabama and Georgia.

Even as Isaias weakens, its threat is far from over. Forecasters say the system will keep pushing heavy rain inland, tracking across the Appalachians and into the Mid-Atlantic in the coming days as a post-tropical cyclone. That shift brings a fresh danger, flash flooding, to communities well outside the storm's original path along the Gulf Coast. For now, cleanup is underway across the Panhandle, with utility crews working to restore power and officials assessing the extent of the wind and storm damage left behind by one of the more intense landfalls the region has seen in recent years.
