Pakistan has publicly confirmed what had long been suspected but rarely stated outright: its military forces are already on the ground in Saudi Arabia. In an interview with CNN, Pakistan's top military spokesman, Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, said Pakistani troops are currently operating inside the Kingdom across what he described as multiple capabilities and domains. Chaudhry noted that this is not a new arrangement, stressing that Pakistan has maintained a military presence in Saudi Arabia for decades as part of a long-running defense relationship between the two nations. He added that the alliance between the countries did not emerge out of a vacuum, pointing instead to deep diplomatic, political, military, and people-to-people ties built over many years.

The confirmation lands at a pivotal moment, as Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye work to put the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement into action, a pact signed in August that treats an attack on any one member as an attack on all three. Under the deal, the three countries have agreed to accelerate the deployment of designated forces and military capabilities, including provisions for rapid reinforcement if needed. The move comes as Saudi Arabia faces escalating threats, including missile and drone attacks tied to the ongoing Houthi conflict, pushing the newly formalized alliance from paperwork toward real, active military cooperation on Saudi soil.
