New on-scene footage from Aliso Beach in Southern California shows just how relentless this stretch of coastline's battle with the ocean has become. The video captures powerful waves slamming into the shoreline, flooding paved areas, damaging barriers and walkways, while caution tape, a lifeguard tower and a front-end loader sit amid the overcast, storm-battered scene. This isn't an isolated event. The beach has faced repeated damage since September 2026, when hurricane-driven swells and El Niño-enhanced waves stripped away sand and forced Laguna Beach officials into emergency repairs and parking lot closures that have become a recurring reality for the area.

The latest round of erosion comes as high surf advisories and coastal flood warnings remain active across Orange County beaches through October 10 and 11, with tides peaking near 6.5 feet and waves running 5 to 9 feet. Those conditions are expected to keep compounding the flooding and erosion already battering vulnerable stretches like Aliso Beach. Laguna Beach previously declared a local emergency after Hurricane Marie's swells damaged seawalls, undermined the Aliso Beach parking lot and threatened oceanfront homes, with officials warning that an unusually strong El Niño season could bring even more damage before the winter is over. For now, the cleanup and repair cycle continues, as the city works to keep pace with a shoreline that keeps getting reshaped faster than crews can rebuild it.
