A DPD delivery driver was tackled to the ground in broad daylight by a phone-snatcher during a routine package drop-off in Derbyshire.

CCTV footage released by police shows Demetri Draco ambushing the courier in June, wrestling him to the floor and placing him in a chokehold before seizing the phone that was meant for delivery.

Fortunately, the victim did not suffer serious injuries. However, the brazen attack sparked outrage and prompted a swift investigation.

Dashcam footage from nearby vehicles helped officers identify Draco, who was later arrested and charged with robbery. He pleaded guilty in court and was sentenced to 15 months in prison at Derby Crown Court on 3 September.
