Israeli President Isaac Herzog provided a detailed account of Israelโ€™s ongoing military operations against Iran during a full interview with "CBS Evening News" anchor Tony Dokoupil. Emphasizing the โ€œsuperbly closeโ€ coordination between Israel and the United States, Herzog outlined the strategic objectives of the campaign and offered his vision for a stable future in the Middle East.

Herzog described the conflict as โ€œuniqueโ€ and โ€œfocused,โ€ stressing that it is distinct from previous wars due to its precision and its potential to deliver meaningful regional change. He acknowledged that the war may not be widely popular in the United States, noting that many Americans are unfamiliar with the complexities of the conflict and often compare it to prior military engagements.

โ€œThis is a unique war. It's a focused war. It is a war that comes at a time where you can really bring real change in the Middle East for the future,โ€ Herzog said, underlining Israelโ€™s strategic aim to counter Tehranโ€™s influence and limit Iranโ€™s capacity to project power across the region. Intelligence reports, corroborated by a 2023 International Atomic Energy Agency study, have confirmed that Iranโ€™s nuclear program had advanced to near-weapons-grade uranium enrichment, a development that has long been perceived by Israeli leadership as an existential threat
