MK Zvi Sukkot visited the site in western Binyamin where Palestinian Authority police detained an Israeli reservist, demanding that Israeli security forces locate and arrest the PA officers involved after a review determined that the incident occurred in Area C.

The confrontation took place Sunday night on the Beitunia bypass road as the Israeli, an IDF reservist who was on leave, was traveling toward the Dolev-Talmonim bloc.

Initial information indicated that the Israeli had mistakenly entered Area A. The Civil Administration subsequently corrected that account, saying the incident actually occurred in Area C.

According to Israel Hayom's latest report, an investigation found that Palestinian police had established a checkpoint in an area where they were not authorized to operate independently and stopped the Israeli on their own initiative.

The reservist said the PA officers forcibly detained him and took his military-issued weapon. In an account subsequently reported by i24NEWS, he alleged that he was struck during the confrontation and that his weapon was taken from him.

The circumstances surrounding the initial encounter were disputed. Security officials initially said PA police encountered a gathering around the Israeli and acted out of concern for his safety, while local Israeli officials maintained that the officers had unlawfully operated inside Area C.

The subsequent review significantly changed the picture, finding that the PA officers had acted in Area C rather than detaining the Israeli after he entered Area A.

Sukkot, who chairs the Knesset Subcommittee for Judea and Samaria, traveled to the location with the reservist the following day.

Standing at the scene, Sukkot demanded that the IDF and Israeli security establishment identify and arrest the Palestinian police officers involved and take action against them. He also called for a secure route connecting the Dolev-Talmonim bloc with Highway 443.

“This is an extremely serious incident,” Sukkot said, emphasizing that they were standing in Area C, where Israelis are legally permitted to travel.

Video released from Sukkot's visit shows the MK standing alongside the reservist near the site of the confrontation while addressing the incident.

The case has drawn increased attention following the clarification over exactly where the detention occurred, shifting the focus from an Israeli who allegedly entered prohibited PA-controlled territory to questions over Palestinian police activity in Area C.
