British Jewish Father of Seven Found Dead in Uman Forest; Authorities Investigating

UMAN — A British Jewish father of seven was found dead in a wooded area near Reb Nachman of Breslov’s tziyun in Uman during the Rosh Hashanah period, prompting an investigation by Ukrainian authorities.
The niftar, identified by Ukrainian authorities as a 44-year-old British citizen who had been living in London, was discovered in a wooded area in Uman. Emergency personnel responded to the scene, where he was pronounced dead.
Ukrainian police have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death and ordered forensic examinations to determine the cause. While initial reports raised concerns that the man may have died under suspicious circumstances, authorities have not established that he was murdered.
The incident occurred as large numbers of Yidden were in Uman for the annual Rosh Hashanah kibbutz at the tziyun of Reb Nachman.
United Hatzalah personnel responded following the discovery. ZAKA's international division was also reported to be involved in efforts concerning the niftar and arrangements for kevurah.
The circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation.
