A 16-year-old Long Island boy was hospitalized in critical but stable condition after falling approximately 50 feet into a shaft at the Queensboro Bridge while attempting a TikTok stunt, according to police and law enforcement sources. The incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. on the Queens side of the East River, prompting an emergency response after a 911 call reported the teen trapped below the bridge structure.

First responders located the boy inside the shaft and conducted a technical rescue operation to safely extract him. He was then transported to New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell for treatment. Authorities confirmed that while his injuries were severe, he remained in stable condition following the rescue.

The episode highlights growing concerns among officials about the risks associated with social media challenges, particularly those involving dangerous locations or physical stunts. Law enforcement has repeatedly warned that attempts to film content in restricted or hazardous areas—such as bridges, construction zones, and transportation infrastructure—can lead to life-threatening injuries and legal consequences.

Investigators are reviewing the circumstances surrounding how the teen gained access to the bridge structure and whether additional safety measures are needed to prevent similar incidents. Officials emphasized the importance of public awareness, urging parents and young people to recognize the real-world dangers behind viral online trends.

The rescue underscores both the rapid response capabilities of emergency crews and the serious consequences that can arise from high-risk social media activity. Authorities continue to monitor the teen’s recovery while evaluating potential charges or policy responses related to unauthorized access to critical infrastructure.
