ROMANIA — Israeli travelers making their way through Romania en route to Uman for Rosh Hashanah were briefly stopped at an airport for an unusual reason: local police wanted a group photo.
According to journalist Yanki Farber, Romanian police representatives asked the Uman-bound travelers to pause inside the airport and pose together with officers before continuing their journey.
The lighthearted encounter comes amid the annual influx of tens of thousands traveling to Uman to spend Rosh Hashanah near the tziyun of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov.
With Ukraine's airspace closed to regular passenger traffic amid the ongoing war, travelers are once again flying into neighboring European countries, including Romania, before completing the journey to Uman by land.
This time, at least, one stop along the long journey came with a smile — and a group photo.
