A woman in her 60s was injured while building a sukkah outside her home in Netanya, prompting Magen David Adom responders to rush to the scene — before the call took an unexpected turn.

The woman was working on the sukkah ahead of Sukkos when a metal pole fell and struck her in the head. A family friend who was helping her immediately contacted MDA's 101 emergency hotline.

MDA responders arrived and provided medical treatment at the scene. After examining the woman, they determined that she was in stable condition and did not require urgent evacuation to a hospital.

With the medical emergency resolved, the responders noticed that the sukkah remained unfinished.

They decided not to leave the job that way.

The MDA team stayed at the home and completed the sukkah, allowing the woman to continue her preparations for Yom Tov despite the frightening interruption.

According to the woman, when the responders first asked her about the sukkah, she assumed they wanted to see the pole that had struck her. She soon realized that they were asking because they intended to finish building it themselves.

The responders involved included MDA EMTs and first responders Nachman Levy and Netanel Peretz, senior EMT Ben El Amira of MDA's motorcycle unit, and an ambulance crew headed by EMT Shmuel Mami.

What began as an emergency call ended as an unexpected act of chesed in the days leading up to Sukkos.
