DEM REP. MOSKOWITZ: Dem Leadership Must Reject DSA’s No Borders, No Prisons Agenda

Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz of Florida delivered a sharp rebuke to the far-left wing of his own party, urging Democratic leadership to publicly reject the agenda of the Democratic Socialists of America. Appearing on Fox & Friends, Moskowitz singled out DSA positions that include abolishing the Senate, eliminating prisons, ending borders, and embracing the legacy of Fidel Castro. He argued these ideas have no place in a general election and do not reflect what mainstream voters want. The congressman made clear that silence from party leaders only allows the radical message to grow.

Moskowitz stressed that the country is now in general-election mode, where extreme proposals become a liability rather than a rallying cry for the base. He described the DSA platform as disconnected from the priorities of ordinary Americans. At the same time, he acknowledged that the group’s economic populism resonates with people struggling to afford the basic costs of living. The Florida Democrat called on his party to confront the radical elements directly while addressing the real economic pressures voters face.

The August 2026 interview highlighted deepening tensions inside the Democratic Party between its establishment figures and the socialist left. With the midterm elections approaching, Moskowitz’s willingness to criticize the DSA on national television signaled growing concern that far-left positions could alienate swing voters. He framed the choice as straightforward: either leadership draws a clear line against abolishing core institutions and borders, or the party risks owning those ideas in the eyes of the public.

By speaking out, Moskowitz positioned himself as a Democrat willing to challenge the most extreme voices in his party. His comments underscored a recognition that open borders, empty prisons, and admiration for Castro-style figures will not sell in a general election. The exchange on Fox & Friends added to the ongoing debate over how far left the Democratic Party is willing to go—and whether its leaders are prepared to push back before voters deliver their own verdict.
