SHOMRON — A long-awaited milestone was celebrated at the “Shir L’David” farm in the Shomron this week, as running water flowed at the agricultural outpost for the first time ahead of Rosh Hashanah.

New footage shows Elchanan Lerner opening the water line and watching the stream flow onto the farm, following more than a year in which water had to be transported to the site by tank.

According to a post documenting the milestone, Lerner and those working alongside him had been hauling water for miles to provide for both their household needs and the farm’s cattle. The newly installed water line now provides a more permanent supply for the property.

The Shir L’David farm was established by Elchanan and Hadas Lerner and their family in memory of their friend David Libi, who was killed in Gaza in May 2025. Libi had devoted much of his life to agriculture and settlement, and the farm was established in his memory in western Shomron.

The farm raises cattle and operates agricultural land in an area east of Rosh HaAyin, near Leshem and Alei Zahav. Its operators describe agriculture and developing the surrounding land as central to the farm’s mission.

The arrival of running water marks a significant practical step for the young farm, easing a daily burden that had required transporting large quantities of water to sustain both its residents and livestock.

Coming just ahead of Rosh Hashanah, those at the farm celebrated the development with wishes for a new year of blessing, success — and plenty of water.
