The White House’s newly established Super Intelligence Force is moving to turn President Donald Trump’s artificial intelligence agenda into action, with Chair Jay Clayton describing the task force’s first meeting as productive and focused on concrete next steps. “It was a very good meeting,” Clayton said, explaining that officials had established a protocol and a path for implementing the White House Accord on Super Intelligence. The group also plans to maintain dialogue with leading AI developers, known as frontier labs, as the administration works to coordinate government engagement with the rapidly advancing technology industry. Announced on October 4, 2026, the task force is led by Clayton, who also serves as director of national intelligence, and brings together officials responsible for technology, regulation and government operations. Its formation reflects the Trump administration’s push to strengthen American leadership in advanced AI while coordinating efforts to address the technology’s potential risks.

The task force has a 120-day mandate to examine the opportunities and threats associated with advanced AI systems and recommend what role the federal government should play in managing their development. Its work is closely tied to the White House Accord on Super Intelligence, a voluntary industry commitment intended to establish safety practices and accountability measures among participating technology companies. By establishing protocols and maintaining direct communication with frontier labs, Clayton’s team aims to create a structured process for translating those commitments into practical steps without unnecessarily hindering innovation. The challenge will be balancing America’s ambition to remain ahead of international competitors with concerns about cybersecurity, misuse of powerful AI systems, public safety and effective oversight. The first meeting marks an early step in that effort, but the task force’s eventual recommendations and the willingness of AI companies to follow through on their commitments will help determine how the initiative develops.
