New York City experienced its first measurable snowfall of the season this weekend, bringing significant disruption to airports and travel across the tri-state area. Snow accumulation reached up to eight inches in parts of the city, creating hazardous conditions and widespread delays for travelers.

LaGuardia Airport was placed under a ground stop, resulting in delays of nearly six hours as of noon Sunday. JFK International Airport also faced major disruptions, with a ground delay implemented Sunday morning and flights experiencing delays of just over three hours.

The snowfall not only affected air travel but also caused challenges on roadways throughout the region, prompting transportation authorities to urge caution and slow driving. Weather officials reported that the storm system is expected to move through the northeast over the coming hours, potentially exacerbating delays for commuters and travelers.

Authorities continue to monitor conditions closely and are coordinating snow removal and airport operations to minimize further disruptions. Travelers are advised to check flight statuses and plan for extended travel times as the region adjusts to its first significant snowfall of the season.
