United Airlines is rapidly expanding its Starlink satellite internet service, with CEO Scott Kirby announcing that the carrier is equipping approximately three aircraft per day as it moves toward providing high-speed connectivity on more than half its flights. As of late October 2026, the airline has installed Starlink on more than 640 aircraft, and the service is available on approximately 48% of its daily flights, according to recent reports and the company's rollout updates. Kirby said coverage was expected to reach 50% within days, marking another milestone in United's effort to improve the passenger experience through faster in-flight internet. The expansion builds on a rollout that began with regional aircraft and has since grown to include more of the airline's fleet. United has also introduced an online tracking tool that allows passengers to check whether Starlink is expected to be available on their upcoming flights.

The airline plans to make Starlink available across its entire fleet by the end of 2027, positioning the technology as a key part of its competition for passenger loyalty. Unlike traditional aircraft Wi-Fi systems, Starlink uses a network of low-Earth-orbit satellites designed to deliver faster connectivity and lower latency, potentially making activities such as video calls, streaming, and working online more practical during flights. Kirby has said that passengers are already choosing United flights specifically because of the service, although the extent of its long-term impact on customer loyalty remains to be seen. The rapid installation pace reflects the airline's push to establish an early advantage before competing carriers expand their own satellite internet offerings. If the rollout continues as planned, United expects high-speed connectivity to become available to a growing share of travelers over the coming year, with fleet-wide coverage targeted for the end of 2027.
