President Donald Trump addressed the possibility of negotiating a deal with Iran in a recent exchange with reporters, emphasizing a cautious but pragmatic approach. When asked whether a deal with the current Iranian regime could truly hold, Trump acknowledged the skepticism surrounding Tehran’s track record, stating, “A lot of people say no. And I would say that I’d rather make a deal.”

Trump highlighted that Iran had refused to engage with other parties, yet they were willing to talk directly with him, signaling a potential opening for negotiations. However, he was clear that any agreement must meet strict conditions: no nuclear weapons and no missile development. “It’s got to be a good deal,” Trump emphasized, underscoring his insistence on security and accountability.

While acknowledging Iran’s history of dishonesty, Trump framed the situation realistically, balancing caution with the potential for diplomatic progress. His approach reflects a core principle of his foreign policy: prioritize America’s security interests while remaining open to agreements that reduce the risk of conflict.

The president’s comments come amid ongoing debate over Iran’s nuclear ambitions and regional influence. By keeping the door open for direct negotiations under strict terms, Trump positions himself as a leader willing to explore solutions that protect U.S. interests without yielding to unrealistic expectations or compromising national security.
