Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is raising the alarm about Iran just days before Israelis head to the polls. In an interview with i24NEWS' Hebrew channel, he said Iran explicitly wants to eliminate him and other senior Israeli officials. His answer was defiant: so far, he claims, it is Israel that has been eliminating Iranian threats, and not the other way around. He said Israel will do whatever is necessary and warned that any attempt to disrupt the vote with security incidents would draw a "very harsh" response. The interview was conducted as security officials reportedly prepare for possible attacks, assassination attempts, and foreign interference during the election period.

Netanyahu also said Iran and other adversaries may try to orchestrate security incidents ahead of the October 27 Knesset election to convince the public that Israel's security achievements are not all that significant. He declined to reveal the intelligence behind that assessment, insisted that the vote will take place on schedule, and named groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, along with several political figures, as openly wanting him to lose. He also described the race as tied and urged his supporters to turn out. All of these claims are Netanyahu's own and could not be independently verified, but they land in the middle of a tight campaign and a tense moment with Iran. The big question now is whether the warnings stay rhetoric or are followed by real incidents in the final days before the vote.
