The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recently conducted operations in southern Lebanon to locate and dismantle weapons, observation posts, and firing positions used by Hezbollah operatives. Video footage released by the IDF shows troops systematically removing anti-tank launchers and other fortified positions, highlighting the military’s ongoing enforcement of ceasefire agreements.

These sites are part of Hezbollah’s continued attempts to rearm and fortify positions, actions that constitute clear violations of the ceasefire understandings established between Israel and Lebanon. The IDF emphasized that these measures are necessary to maintain security along the northern border and prevent escalation from armed groups operating in the area.

The operations trace back to the November 2024 Israel-Lebanon ceasefire, originally a 60-day truce and later extended into 2026 to implement United Nations Resolution 1701. This resolution mandates the withdrawal and disarmament of Hezbollah forces south of the Litani River, aiming to stabilize the region and reduce the risk of armed conflict. The IDF’s recent enforcement actions demonstrate a commitment to uphold these international agreements while deterring attempts at remilitarization by Hezbollah.

By dismantling weapons and observation positions, the IDF reinforces the security framework of southern Lebanon, signaling that violations of ceasefire agreements will be actively countered. These operations also serve as a warning to Hezbollah and other militant groups that attempts to rebuild military capabilities will be met with immediate and decisive action.
