In the early hours of December 4, 2025, Upland Police Department responded to a burglary in progress at a dental office near Euclid Avenue and Arrow Highway. Arriving promptly around 4:30 a.m., officers spotted a vehicle exiting an alley with its lights off. The driver hesitated briefly before complying and pulling over.

Inside the car, officers discovered burglary tools, gloves, methamphetamine paraphernalia, the hoodie used during the break-in, and several stolen items—including a large Mickey Mouse stuffed animal. Investigators later determined that the suspects had already committed two prior commercial burglaries in Claremont before targeting the Upland location.

Among the arrested was 46-year-old Marta Amelia Barreto from Norco, a probationer from Los Angeles County for previous burglary offenses. Both suspects now face charges for multiple commercial burglaries and related offenses, and their vehicle was impounded for a month.

Video footage shared by the Upland Police Department captures the intruder in a hoodie rummaging through the office at 4:30 a.m., as well as the swift response of officers with flashing lights detaining the suspects. The video highlights effective real-time surveillance and patrol coordination in the Inland Empire, demonstrating the department's commitment to rapid intervention and community safety.

This case underscores the importance of proactive policing and coordination between surveillance technology and patrol units, ensuring swift arrests that prevent further crime. Upland Police Department’s actions serve as a reminder that persistent criminal behavior is met with immediate accountability in the community.
