CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Tempe Man Smashes Window but Steals Nothing Of Value ๐คฃ
A burglary at a Tempe, Arizona, tech company has left employees equal parts rattled and amused after a man smashed through a window early Sunday morning and made off with an armful of boxes, none of which actually had anything inside them. Security footage shows the suspect, wearing a plaid shirt and black baseball cap, shattering the glass around 2 a.m. near University Drive and State Route 143, then reaching through the blinds to pass dozens of Mac Mini boxes out through the opening rather than climbing fully inside. The boxes themselves carry a retail value of anywhere from $899 to $6,799, but they were empty display packaging, while the actual computers sat untouched just a few feet away. Employee Curran Rose told FOX 10 Phoenix he arrived to find the window shattered and quickly realized the thief had walked away with nothing but cardboard.
"Just empty boxes... our computers were right there in front of them... really low IQ," Rose said, adding that the whole situation became something of a running joke around the office. "They stole empty boxes. Everyone was laughing about it. I'm just glad no one was hurt." The company has filed a report with Tempe police and is offering a $1,500 reward for any information leading to an arrest, hoping someone recognizes the man caught on camera before he tries his luck elsewhere. As of this week, police had not announced an arrest or publicly identified a suspect, leaving the identity of Tempe's least successful burglar still unknown.
