A delegation of Gedolei Yisroel departed Mexico City for Panama on Tuesday, continuing the latest international mission on behalf of Keren Olam HaTorah after an intensive series of gatherings, tefillos and fundraising meetings with members of Mexico's Jewish community.

Footage from Mexico City showed the delegation's motorcade making its way toward the airport under security as the rabbanim prepared for the next leg of the mission. The Keren's own itinerary lists Panama as the August 25 stop following the delegation's August 23 arrival in Mexico.

The delegation includes Rav Yaakov Hillel, Rav Avraham Salim, Rav Shimon Galai, Rav Yehoshua Eichenstein and Rav Yosef Chevroni. Lakewood Rosh Yeshiva Rav Malkiel Kotler joined the mission from the United States.

During their stay in Mexico City, the Gedolim participated in a packed schedule of events aimed at strengthening support for the Olam HaTorah in Eretz Yisroel. Among the events was a major gathering at the Magen David synagogue attended by thousands, as well as Selichos and Shacharis at Keter Torah and meetings with local supporters. Contemporary reporting identified Panama as the delegation's next destination.

The mission comes as Keren Olam HaTorah continues its effort to replace funding lost by yeshivos and kollelim in Eretz Yisroel. The organization says it is seeking approximately $12 million per month to support 1,489 yeshivos and kollelim.
