A large crowd gathered for Shacharis at Mexico City's Keter HaTorah synagogue as leading Gedolei Yisroel continued a major mission to Mexico on behalf of Keren Olam HaTorah, drawing an enthusiastic reception from the local Jewish community.

The delegation arrived in Mexico City on Sunday following a journey of nearly 20 hours. Among those participating in the mission are HaRav Yaakov Hillel, HaRav Avraham Salim, HaRav Shimon Galai, HaRav Yehoshua Eichenstein and HaRav Yosef Chevroni. They were joined by Lakewood Rosh Yeshiva HaRav Aryeh Malkiel Kotler and HaRav Yisroel Brog.

The visit is part of Keren Olam HaTorah's continuing international campaign to raise support for yeshivos and kollelim in Eretz Yisroel amid the severe financial pressures facing the Torah world.

The Gedolim were welcomed upon their arrival by representatives of Mexico's Jewish community, beginning a schedule of tefillos, gatherings and meetings with local supporters. The mission follows an extensive series of visits by Gedolei Yisroel to Jewish communities around the world as part of the effort to sustain Torah institutions in Eretz Yisroel.

Keren Olam HaTorah says it currently supports 1,489 yeshivos and kollelim and is seeking approximately $12 million each month to maintain that assistance. The organization lists Mexico as the latest stop in its continuing international mission.

The scenes at Keter HaTorah offered another striking display of kavod haTorah as members of Mexico's Jewish community gathered with the visiting Gedolim during their mission on behalf of the Olam HaTorah in Eretz Yisroel.
