Israel Unveils ELLYON, a Game-Changing Spy Jet for Modern War

Israel Aerospace Industries has unveiled ELLYON, a next-generation multi-mission aircraft designed to fuse two traditionally separate military functions, intelligence gathering and electronic warfare, into a single airborne platform. Presented at the Farnborough International Airshow in the UK, the business-jet-based system is built on the Bombardier Global 6500 airframe and is engineered to operate from stand-off distances of hundreds of kilometers, keeping it safely removed from hostile air defenses while still gathering intelligence and disrupting enemy systems. IAI describes the aircraft as an all-in-one solution capable of collecting, analyzing, and acting on battlefield information in real time.

ELLYON integrates full-spectrum radar and communications jamming, signals intelligence, long-range synthetic aperture radar with ground moving target indication, electro-optical sensors, and wide-band satellite communications into a unified mission architecture. At the heart of the platform is an AI-driven mission management system that processes sensor data, generates intelligence assessments, and relays them instantly to command centers, ground stations, and other aircraft via satellite link. IAI Chairman Boaz Levy said the aircraft continues the company's long tradition of combining technological innovation with proven operational experience in developing advanced intelligence aircraft.

By merging capabilities that have historically required multiple specialized aircraft into one platform, ELLYON is intended to significantly shorten the time between intelligence collection and operational response, a critical advantage in fast-moving, contested environments. The system was unveiled alongside other Israeli defense technologies at Farnborough, including Rafael's Iron Beam laser air defense system, underscoring Israel's continued push to showcase battle-tested and next-generation military technology on the global stage. As tensions in the Middle East persist, platforms like ELLYON reflect Israel's ongoing investment in maintaining a decisive technological edge in the electromagnetic and intelligence domains.
