An Israeli man who accidentally drove into Area A near Ramallah was safely rescued by Border Police after realizing he had taken a wrong turn and contacting police for help.

The incident occurred Sunday when the driver, a resident of Holon, mistakenly entered the Palestinian Authority-controlled area while traveling by car. Israeli citizens are prohibited from entering Area A, and Israeli authorities warn that doing so can pose a serious danger.

After realizing his mistake, the driver contacted Israel Police's 100 emergency hotline.

Jerusalem Periphery Border Police officers immediately established telephone contact with him and remained on the line, providing safety instructions while a team was dispatched to locate him.

Officers conducted searches in the area until they identified the man's vehicle. They then reached him, confirmed that he had not been harmed and escorted him out of Area A to a safe location.

Police footage released following the incident documents portions of the operation from inside the Border Police vehicle as officers worked to reach the stranded driver.

After finally meeting the officers, the relieved man can be heard saying, “Now I'm calm.”

The driver emerged from the incident unharmed.

Police reiterated following the rescue that entry into Area A is prohibited by law for Israeli citizens and warned Israelis to avoid entering such areas and to follow security-force instructions.
