Controversial YouTuber Tyler Oliveira has returned to Haredi communities in the New York-New Jersey area, months after his previous videos about Kiryas Joel and Lakewood drew millions of views and widespread condemnation over their portrayal of Orthodox Jews.

Oliveira posted a short video on Instagram on Wednesday, August 26, captioned, “I got swarmed by Hasidic Jews today,” showing himself surrounded by a group of Chassidim. The post had drawn tens of thousands of likes as it circulated online.

The clip appears to be part of a broader new filming trip through several major Haredi communities.

Community reports said Oliveira was in Jewish neighborhoods in Brooklyn on Tuesday before traveling to Lakewood, New Jersey, on Wednesday, where he was reportedly approaching residents and schools while accompanied by a film crew. He subsequently traveled to New Square in Rockland County.

As word of his presence spread, community outlets urged residents not to engage with him. Lakewood Alerts advised residents to walk away rather than argue or participate in interviews and said police should be contacted if anyone enters private property or refuses to leave. Similar guidance was circulated after Oliveira was reported in New Square. Claims by those outlets that he was “harassing” schools have not been independently established.

The latest visits come after Oliveira devoted a series of viral videos earlier this year to Haredi and Orthodox communities.

In January, Oliveira published a video about Kiryas Joel under the title “Inside the New York Town Invaded by Welfare-Addicted Jews,” portraying the predominantly Satmar community through allegations about government assistance and political influence. The Anti-Defamation League said the presentation invoked longstanding antisemitic stereotypes.

He followed that with a February video about Lakewood titled “I Exposed New Jersey’s Jewish Invasion.” Jewish Telegraphic Agency reporting described the video as relying on selective interviews and loaded framing to depict the Orthodox community as corrupt and dependent on public resources. Both videos attracted millions of views and prompted a significant backlash from Jewish communal figures.

The controversy escalated in May when Oliveira attempted to enter Israel and was denied entry at Ben Gurion Airport.

Israeli Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli confirmed that he had intervened in the decision, saying Oliveira's online activity went beyond legitimate criticism and accusing him of using harassment of Jews to gain attention on social media. Oliveira was subsequently sent back to the United States.

Oliveira has disputed accusations surrounding his content and has publicly described the action against him as a ban over what he called “anti-Semitic” content.

His return to Brooklyn, Lakewood and New Square suggests that additional videos focusing on Haredi communities may now be in production. As of Wednesday, the short “swarmed” clip was among the first material Oliveira had publicly released from the latest trip.
