FLYING ROADSTER BLAST: Musk Unveils Tesla That Flips, Hovers and Drives Upside Down
Elon Musk has unveiled the next-generation Tesla Roadster in a dramatic demonstration that pushed the boundaries of what a production car can do. At an event held October 15-16, 2026, at a SpaceX facility in Texas, the vehicle used cold-gas thrusters and a high-suction underbody fan system to drive completely upside down on a ramp, perform flips, briefly hover, and accelerate from zero to 60 mph in as little as 0.81 seconds. The car incorporates SpaceX technology for attitude control and rear thrusters, generating massive downforce of up to 2G that allows extraordinary handling and limited aerial maneuvers. Tesla confirmed three variants will be offered, including a high-performance “Rocket” trim equipped with ten thrusters. Reservations are now open for the production model, which is targeted for delivery in 2028. The company positions the Roadster as the ultimate human-driven performance car, combining extreme speed with never-before-seen capabilities.
The demonstration footage quickly circulated and left viewers stunned by the vehicle’s ability to leave the ground and stick to inverted surfaces. Higher trims are expected to exceed 230 mph while still delivering more than 300 miles of electric range. The integration of SpaceX thrusters turns the Roadster into something closer to a land-and-air machine than a conventional sports car. Musk and Tesla framed the project as a serious production vehicle that customers will actually be able to buy, not a one-off concept. The combination of rocket-derived propulsion, extreme downforce, and blistering acceleration sets a new benchmark for automotive performance. Early interest has been intense as the company begins collecting deposits for the long-awaited model.
