Israeli Defense Forces carried out a decisive operation in northern Gaza on December 25, delivering a significant blow to Hamas’ underground terror infrastructure and eliminating dozens of militants operating near the Israeli border.

During the operation, IDF units dismantled more than four kilometers of Hamas tunnel networks in the areas of Jabaliya, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahiya. These tunnels were embedded deep within civilian zones and were used by Hamas for movement, weapons storage, and attacks against Israeli communities. The action focused on the Yellow Line security zone, a critical buffer area designed to prevent cross-border infiltration and protect Israeli civilians.

According to the IDF, the tunnels posed an immediate threat to Israeli territory and military forces. Engineering and combat units worked in coordination to locate, map, and destroy the underground routes, using controlled demolitions and targeted strikes to neutralize the threat while maintaining operational precision.

Dozens of Hamas militants were killed during the mission as Israeli forces encountered armed resistance along the tunnel routes. Aerial footage released from the operation shows powerful explosions collapsing underground passages, illustrating the scale and effectiveness of the strikes.

This operation underscores Israel’s continued commitment to dismantling Hamas’ terror capabilities and denying the group the infrastructure it relies on to wage war against the Jewish state. By targeting tunnels near the border, the IDF significantly reduced Hamas’ ability to launch surprise attacks and threaten Israeli civilians.

The mission reflects the IDF’s strategic focus on long-term security, demonstrating that Hamas’ underground network — once considered a strategic asset — is increasingly becoming a liability under sustained Israeli military pressure.
