The Israel Defense Forces announced that it eliminated Hezbollah terrorists operating from an underground site in the Nabatiyeh area of southern Lebanon, citing an immediate threat to Israeli security. According to the military, the operation was carried out after identifying hostile activity that violated existing understandings between Israel and Lebanon.
The IDF stated that the underground infrastructure was being used by Hezbollah operatives in a manner that directly endangered Israel, reinforcing concerns over the terror group’s continued efforts to entrench itself militarily near the Israeli border. Such activity, the military said, undermines regional stability and breaches agreements intended to prevent escalation along the frontier.
Israeli officials emphasized that the strike was defensive in nature and part of Israel’s ongoing campaign to prevent Hezbollah from establishing operational capabilities that could be used against Israeli civilians and soldiers. The IDF reaffirmed that it will continue to act decisively against any threat, regardless of location, to protect Israel’s sovereignty and security.
The operation highlights Israel’s longstanding policy of preventing terror organizations from exploiting Lebanese territory to prepare attacks, particularly through covert underground networks. As tensions remain high in the region, Israeli defense officials stressed that responsibility for escalation lies with those who violate established frameworks and choose confrontation over restraint.
