China has carried out a successful test of its DF-27A hypersonic glide vehicle, underscoring the rapid acceleration of Beijing’s long-range and anti-ship strike capabilities and drawing renewed attention to the changing balance of military power in the Indo-Pacific.

According to defense analysts, the DF-27A reached speeds of approximately Mach 8.6 during the test, traveling more than 2,100 kilometers in just 12 minutes.
