Georgia deputies arrested a 17-year-old suspect after a dangerous high-speed pursuit involving a stolen SUV ended in a dramatic rollover crash, according to dashcam footage released by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office. The chase, which reached speeds of up to 115 miles per hour, tore through residential neighborhoods and busy roadways before coming to a violent end.

Authorities say deputies were alerted shortly before 2:45 p.m. on January 21 to a stolen red SUV reported out of Newnan, Georgia, approximately 40 miles southwest of Atlanta. Lieutenant Josh Akin began searching the area after receiving the vehicle description and soon spotted the SUV alongside Deputy Sheriff Nelson near Antioch Road.

Dashcam video shows the suspect blowing past deputies and refusing to stop despite an attempted traffic stop. The teen accelerated rapidly, weaving through traffic, driving into oncoming lanes, and putting motorists and pedestrians at extreme risk as deputies pursued.

The chase ended when the SUV crashed and flipped in a rollover, bringing the pursuit to a halt. Deputies quickly moved in and took the driver into custody. Officials have not released details about injuries but confirmed the suspect survived the crash and was arrested at the scene.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office emphasized the danger posed by high-speed pursuits, noting that the suspect’s reckless actions endangered countless lives. Charges against the teen are expected to include vehicle theft, felony fleeing, and multiple traffic violations.
