Israel has continued its campaign of striking high-rise buildings in Gaza, with the latest destruction marking another phase in the military operations that began after the outbreak of war on October 7, 2023.
According to reports, Israel has conducted widespread strikes targeting Hamas-linked sites across the enclave, with more than 40,000 targets bombed by October 2024. Israeli officials maintain that many of Gaza’s high-rise towers are used by Hamas for command centers, weapons storage, and military coordination, making them a priority in the campaign.
The strikes have also resulted in extensive damage to civilian infrastructure, fueling concerns from international observers about the humanitarian toll. Thousands of families have been displaced as neighborhoods are reduced to rubble, leaving Gaza in a state of deep crisis.
Despite these concerns, Israel has emphasized that its operations are necessary to dismantle Hamas’ military capabilities and to prevent further attacks against its citizens. The destruction of high-rise buildings, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), is part of a broader strategy to deny Hamas strategic positions within densely populated areas.
