Paterson, New Jersey, is facing another major water crisis after a second water main break disrupted service for thousands of residents.
The Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) reported a 42-inch water main break at North 1st Street and Arch Street in Paterson, impacting an estimated 18,000 people. Large portions of the Riverside neighborhood may experience little to no water pressure as crews work to isolate the break.
This incident is separate from the earlier water main break near Hinchliffe Stadium, which had already strained the city’s water system. A Boil Water Advisory remains in effect for parts of Paterson, Prospect Park, Haledon, and North Haledon.
PVWC crews are continuing emergency repairs, but officials have not provided an exact timeline for full restoration of service. Residents are urged to conserve water and follow safety advisories until further notice.
