WASHINGTON, D.C. — Vice President JD Vance opened up about his role under President Donald J. Trump, describing the Vice Presidency as “pretty much the best job”—second only, perhaps jokingly, to being Tom Brady’s backup quarterback.

“There are certainly sacrifices and responsibilities,” Vance said, “but I really do think that Tom Brady backup notwithstanding, it’s pretty much the best job.”

However, the conversation quickly turned serious as Vance addressed growing concerns over public safety and police shortages across America—especially in cities like Cincinnati, Ohio.

“The most important thing that states and cities can do is to actually solve the law enforcement recruitment challenge that we have,” he emphasized.

Vance pointed to a recent incident at the Cincinnati Jazz Festival, where reports of unrest and slow response times raised alarms. “A big part of the story of what happened in Cincinnati... there weren’t enough police officers,” he said. “It’s a staffing crisis that puts communities at risk.”

His comments highlight the administration’s growing push for increased investment in police recruitment, training, and retention as violent crime spikes and departments struggle to fill vacant positions.
