BRUSSELS — In a strong and clear message, U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker reaffirmed the Trump administration’s hardline stance on Iran’s nuclear ambitions, while signaling that the path to diplomacy remains open.

Speaking on behalf of the administration, Whitaker emphasized that President Donald Trump has drawn a firm red line when it comes to Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

“President Trump has been very clear — Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,” said Whitaker. “And since we obliterated their nuclear program, I think it is time for Iran to come to the table and negotiate with the United States of America on a path toward peace and prosperity.”
