Since the beginning of Operation Epic Fury, Brent crude prices have climbed roughly 24 percent, rising to more than $90 per barrel. The price surge has quickly translated into higher fuel costs for consumers in the United States. National gasoline averages have increased to around $3.47 per gallon, according to recent energy market data. In states such as California, where regulatory structures and supply logistics already drive higher fuel costs, prices have risen even more sharply.

Hume emphasized that the market reaction is largely tied to uncertainty rather than actual damage to energy infrastructure or production facilities. Insurance companies are concerned about the possibility that commercial vessels could become targets if hostilities escalate in the region. Even the perceived risk of missile strikes, naval skirmishes, or mine threats in the Strait of Hormuz can significantly increase shipping costs, which in turn affects oil prices worldwide.
